Filippo M. Cinotti – Managing Partner

Filippo M. Cinotti is the firm’s founder and managing partner.

His multifaceted international practice includes corporate formation and cross-border transactions ranging from international mergers, joint ventures, real estate fund formation and structuring of real estate transactions and commercial leases. Mr. Cinotti leverages on his knowledge of a blend of real estate, corporate and international tax principles acquired over the course of almost two decades in order to provide sound and effective solutions to complex cross-border transactions. His clients include the Government of Italy as well as the second-largest Italian bank by assets, real estate funds, high net worth individuals as well as major fashion, food, designer furniture and luxury companies. In recognition of his services, in January 2009, Filippo received the “Best of New York- Stivale D’Italia Award Of Excellence” award, bestowed by The Italian Tribune to the Top 50 Italian American Men of the Year.

Prior to joining Cinotti LLP, Mr. Cinotti practiced law in the corporate and tax departments of Debevoise & Plimpton LLP in New York City. He graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Perugia (J.D. – 1991) and New York University School of Law, where he received a Master of Comparative Jurisprudence (1996) and a Tax LL.M. (2001).

Mr. Cinotti has published a number of articles in the areas of private equity funds, taxation and intellectual property law, including: US Private Equity Funds: Selected Regulatory and Tax Issues, AltAssets, June 10, 2003; Creditability of Italian IRAP Tax Under Sections 901 and 903 of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code, 19 Tax Notes International, Special Report, November 22, 1999, 2015; and “Fair Use” of Comparative Advertising Under The 1995 Trademark Dilution Act, IDEA: The Journal of Law and Technology, Franklin Pierce Law Center, Vol. 37, No. 1, 133, 1996. Some of the above referenced articles have been cited in leading US tax and intellectual property treatises.
